The first ever International Red Panda Day will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010. It was created to raise awareness of the red panda and support conservation efforts in Nepal and China. The main goal of this year's event is to create as many Red Panda Rangers as possible. There will be many participating zoos, so please try to go to your nearest participating zoo, or host a treasure hunt in your own community. If this isn't possible for you, please consider giving a donation to celebrate this special day.
Here is a link to a PDF of the Activity Packet.
You can find more information, and a list of participating zoos here.

Good luck Khosuva!
Khosuva, an 8-year old red panda from the Auckland Zoo, is being relocated to the Darjeeling Zoo in hopes that her offspring will eventually be released into the wild. The breeding program at Darjeeling has been very successful, and is the only program to
reintroduce red pandas into the wild.

Red Panda Awareness Weekend
April 10th & 11th, 2010 is Red Panda Awareness Weekend at the Houston Zoo! The zoo has many events planned, such as Red Panda training, enrichment, and Meet the Keeper talks. There will be a raffle for a gift pack and a behind-the-scenes tour with Toby. Even if you don't win the raffle, there will be temporary Toby tattoos and magnets. I wish I could go! If anyone goes, please feel free to comment here about your day. :)
